The Solidarity Academy badges are here to celebrate everything you’ve been doing during your journey with Solidarity Academy.This programme is all about getting you ready for your volunteering adventure abroad. Over the past weeks, you’ve been gaining hands-on experience here in Ireland, building confidence and picking up the skills you’ll need on the next step of your journey.
By completing the associated activities, you’re showing that you’ve:
- Taken part fully in the Solidarity Academy.
- Reflected on your own journey.
- Practiced real-life skills like teamwork, problem-solving, resilience, and adapting to new cultures/communities.
- Started getting yourself ready to live, work and thrive abroad.
The badge tasks are your chance to look back on what you’ve done, share your highlights, and show how you’ve grown. It's about celebrating your progress and recognising the strengths you’ll bring with you on your ESC adventure. As you complete these tasks, you’ll have a record of your journey so far and a story that might just inspire someone else to take the leap too!

This badge celebrates everything you’ve accomplished by the end of the Solidarity Academy. Over the weeks, you’ve grown as a person, developed new skills, and faced challenges that have helped you build resilience and confidence. You’ve also had the chance to make a real difference in your community. This badge is about recognising your journey, reflecting on how far you’ve come, and sharing the impact you’ve made and the lessons you’ve learned along the way. It’s your moment to celebrate your achievements and inspire the next group of participants.
In this video, you will hear Amy’s story about discovering herself through the European Solidarity Corps. In it, Amy reflects on how the programme helped her learn more about who she is and the kind of person she can be. At first Amy doubted whether ESC was for someone like her but taking part proved life-changing. The experience not only boosted her confidence but also showed her that opportunities locally or abroad are open to everyone, regardless of background.
This next video is about Nikola, a young man who took the opportunity to volunteer in Germany through the European Solidarity Corps. In it, he shares his journey abroad - what inspired him to join, the challenges he faced and the skills he gained along the way. Nikola reflects on how the programme helped him grow in confidence, adapt to a new culture and discover new possibilities for his future.
