This activity is for participants taking part in the Cities of Learning study visit for Networking and Advocating.

This session is designed for participants to engage in critical self-reflection, envisioning the potential impact of the study visit on their organisations and clarifying their personal and collective goals for the remaining days. It aims to enhance skills in "Assessing and Evaluating" and "Being Civically Engaged", key competence areas within the European Training Strategy (ETS) Competence Model for Youth Workers.

Why this Activity? (Strategic reflection & Personal goal setting)
Taking time for structured reflection is crucial for maximizing learning and ensuring that insights gained translate into tangible actions. This activity encourages participants to consider the broader implications of the study visit, both for their own professional development and for the benefit of their organizations. By setting clear, achievable goals for the coming days and recognizing their unique contributions, participants can enhance their engagement and ensure a more impactful study visit experience.

Objectives of the activity
  • To encourage participants to reflect on the potential long-term impact of the study visit on their respective organisations.
  • To prompt participants to set clear, achievable personal goals for their learning and engagement during the remainder of the study visit.
  • To recognize and articulate the unique value and contributions that each participant brings to the collective experience.
  • To foster a forward-thinking mindset regarding the application of newly acquired knowledge and connections, contributing to "Assessing and Evaluating".
  • To reinforce a sense of personal responsibility and active contribution to the network's success, supporting "Being Civically Engaged".

Instructions
1. Individual Reflection
Participants will be provided with time for individual, quiet reflection. You should consider and make notes on the following prompts:
  • When the study visit is a success: what impact could it have for your organisation?
Think broadly about new practices, partnerships, improved understanding, or specific projects that could arise.
  • What do you want to achieve in the next study visit days? Be clear and achievable.
Set 1-3 specific, measurable goals. Examples: "Have a deep conversation with X person about Y topic," "Identify 2 potential new partners for Z project."
  • What added value do you bring to the study visit?
Consider your unique experiences, expertise, questions, or perspectives that can enrich discussions and interactions.
2. Optional Sharing (Small groups)
  • You have the opportunity to briefly share your reflections in small groups, fostering peer learning and accountability.

Completion & Badge
By actively engaging in this structured reflection, articulating potential impacts, setting clear goals, and recognising your personal contribution, participants will earn the "Reflective Contributor" badge! This badge signifies a commitment to self-assessment and strategic thinking, enhancing their capacity for continuous improvement and active participation within the Cities of Learning Network. This contribution directly supports the development of "Assessing and Evaluating" and "Being Civically Engaged" competences as defined by the ETS Competence Model for Youth Workers. This badge has been issued by the Cities of Learning Network Partner trio who are managing the Network.
