We're excited to welcome you to the ‘Storytelling for Civil Society’ course!
Our course Storytelling for Civil Society is designed to help you better communicate about your projects and engage more people by using storytelling techniques. During the course you will figure out what makes a “good story”, learn how to build your story from the very beginning and how to define your target audience, find out about the human rights-based approach, and more!
Course format and digital certificates
The course is created in a playlist format. Somewhat similar to a music playlist, except it consists of educational tracks: instructions, videos, and online workshops. You can go through all the tracks, or you can only go through the ones that are relevant to you now. However, there is one mandatory track – the introduction you're currently exploring. After each track, we ask you to complete a task and get a badge (a badge is a gamified certificate format or a virtual sticker that indicates that the track is passed). Course moderators will read the assignment you submit for review and provide personalized feedback.
In addition, for those participants who demonstrate high levels of engagement in the workshops and homework assignments, the course will provide mentoring sessions, given by the course experts to assist participants with specific aspects of their storytelling. Mentoring will be provided on a limited basis and on-demand of participants.
To request mentor's assistance, you need to participate in at least 2 workshops and get at least 3 “track” badges videos, manuals, etc.). After second workshop, we will open the registration form for mentoring. You can always write us and ask about the details. Please remember that this option is limited (45 hours for the whole course).
How to get the certificate and the final badge
To get the final badge and a certificate of completion, you must complete a mandatory track and at least five other tracks of your choice and submit the final assignment. Participants who complete a mandatory track and four other tracks of their choice will receive a certificate of participation.
However, if you are motivated and active, you will get a chance to apply for mentorship. It’ll be available for participants who participated in at least 2 workshops and plan on submitting the final assignment and need additional guidance.
As the final assignment, we will ask you to share a product (series of storytelling posts, an article, a website, a short video, etc.) that you’ve created during the course or the idea of such a product that you are going to create after the course. We encourage you to start thinking of the product from the beginning and complete tasks with the idea of your final product in mind.
How the platform works
We've prepared a detailed tutorial with step-by-step instructions on how to use the platform. We will send e-mails with updates and announcements of online workshops and additionally publish them in our Telegram-chat (the link was sent in the letter). Please make sure the emails don't end up in your spam, promotions or updates folders. If you have any questions, email us at oeec.online@gmail.com.
