Cities of Learning Network partners organise the training programme to train and certify badge recognition trainers and coaches. Later, qualified trainers and coaches will facilitate the implementation of Quality Label for Badge Recognition in their organisations and support other learning providers willing to obtain verification of the quality standard in badge recognition.

Target group:

The training programme is best designed for the following participants' profiles:
  • Experienced learning providers are familiar with the Cities of Learning platform and use Open Badges for recognition in education, training, and youth fields.
  • Motivated youth workers or educators in the non-formal or formal education field who commit to contributing to establishing a quality standard for digital Open Badges
  • Participants should be residents of the following countries: Italy, Lithuania, Netherlands, Serbia, Slovenia and Spain.
  • Be able to speak English at a sufficient level.

Aim and objectives:

Quality Label serves as a recognised standard and distinction of digital badge recognition. It shows that badge issuers awarded the label have demonstrated expertise, dedication to established procedures, and a commitment to upholding high standards in using digital open badges for recognition.
This training aims to develop knowledge, understanding and competencies related to the Quality Label, a novel standard we are establishing for badge issuers.

Specific training objectives:
  1. Build your expertise and acquire in-depth knowledge of using digital Open Badges for recognition.
  2. Develop your capacity to implement the Quality Label standard and procedures in your organisation.
  3. Connect and network with like-minded professionals and experts across education, training and youth fields.
  4. Contribute to establishing a quality standard for accrediting Open Badges issuers.
  5. Get ready to promote and support wider badge recognition at both national and European levels.

The training course will be an opportunity for you to test and provide feedback to the first draft version of the Quality Label for Badge Recognition.

Future opportunities:

After participating in this training, you will be supported in becoming a trainer and coach to help other learning providers implement badge recognition and quality standards in your country and within the Cities of Learning Network.
With our team's support, you can train local badge issuers seeking better quality and broader recognition of learning activities and outcomes within and beyond non-formal learning and youth work fields.
Furthermore, you will have the chance to be part of an International Expert Seminar taking place in the Netherlands in January 2025. This seminar, a cornerstone event, will gather up to 35 experts, stakeholders, and decision-makers to present an agreed quality standard for accrediting Open Badges issuers. It's an excellent opportunity to provide recommendations, gain support, and demonstrate the collective achievements in the field.

Cities of Learning Network partners:

The following partners lead the development of the Quality Label for badge recognition:

Costs:

Thanks to the EU Erasmus+ co-funding, the project covers all the costs (international travel, board and lodging, programme).
