Youth Work Ireland Midlands works from the definition of youth work as adopted in the Youth Work Act 2001, which defines youth work as:

“A planned programme of educational design for the purpose of aiding and enhancing the personal and social development of young person’s through their voluntary participation, and which is complementary to their formal, academic or vocational training and is provided primarily by voluntary youth work organisations.” 
﻿
Youth Work Ireland Midlands in partnership with young people and their communities will develop, co-ordinate and promote a comprehensive response to youth needs throughout the Midland Region, covering Counties Westmeath, Offaly & Roscommon.

Gaining knowledge about youth work in general.
Finding out about Youth Work Ireland Midlands and what they do.
Reflecting their own definition of youth work.

Completing these two tasks means they have successfully worked to gain the “What is youth work?” badge and are now on their way towards achieving the overall “How to set up a youth club” badge.

There are days when I go and look at a stonecutter hammering away at his rock, perhaps a hundred times without as much as a crack showing in it.  Yet at the one hundred and first blow it will split in two, and I know it was not the last blow that did it, but all that had gone before.
