Why Youth Engagement?

In Cities of Learning Network, we aim to engage, connect and empower young people to shape local, regional, national and European youth policies. Methods and activities we used/offer are the followig:
  1. Engaging young people in youth consultation activities about their needs, interests and capacity within the Cities of Learning cooperation framework via online surveys, focus groups, participatory workshops, and mapping activities.
  2. Connecting young people through Virtual Exchanges, international youth exchanges and volunteering opportunities. We aim to provide in person and virtual activities where young people meet to exchange current European themes; intercultural learning, non-formal learning, and take part in peer education.
  3. Empowering young people through co-designing learning pathways, and youth ambassadors’ activities we support network members to coach youth groups, offer them training courses, participatory workshops and establish local young ambassadors groups.

  1. Participation – taking part in activities and contributing ideas.
  2. Engagement – joining the Co(L)-Creators team and volunteering for small tasks.
  3. Co-Creation – developing your own initiatives, coaching peers, and joining decision-making processes.
  4. Implementation – leading projects, representing the network, and driving strategic change.

Still unsure where to begin?
  • STEP 1: Find your local Cities of Learning member (you can find the member list HERE) and connect with them (if you are not already collaborating with them). Before joining international initiatives, we always encourage you to start locally and nationally
  • STEP 2: Check out our presentation slides Young Co(L)-Creators programme information slides (in English) and discover which level of involvement feels right for you. The journey is flexible — you can start small and grow your role step by step. Each level will offer different roles to overtake.
