Get ready to learn from practical experience!
Interview an Entrepreneur! An active approach to learning from practical experience: you will select somebody who has successfully implemented a business idea and interview them, using certain guidelines. Then you will present interview results – using visual aids, if possible.
This training session will help you to:
- Understand that all people have different career options.
- Give reasons for your decisions, in oral and written form.
Complete the following activities:
1. Pairing up
Form a team of two people to work together.
2. Interviewee selection
Research possible interviewees, such as entrepreneurs – or people who have implemented an idea – who have an interesting business idea. It is probably better to choose small businesses or NGOs because it will be easier to analyse their business idea. Present your potential interviewees to others.
Contact your interviewees. Tell them that you need to interview an entrepreneur for your education. Make an appointment.
3. Prepare for an interview
Get familiar with the Worksheet 1: Interview questions to prepare for an interview. Of the seven questions, three questions are OBLIGATORY and must be asked during the interview. Additional questions can be selected from the remaining questions (OPTIONAL questions).
4. Make an interview
5. Prepare and present your results
The presentations should take about 5 minutes and you can use PowerPoint, a poster or any object that represents the respective company.
6. Feedback on the Presentation
This activity includes best practices of IFTE (Initiative for Teaching Entrepreneurship) provided for the project DARE - Day One Alliance for Employment that is funded by Iceland, Liechtenstein and Norway through the EEA and Norway Grants Fund for Youth Employment.
