How does non-formal learning manifest in practice?

In this activity you will be able to explore examples of non-formal learning and share your examples. Visit other activities of the playlist “GameOn: Non-formal learning in Game design” to explore more on how to apply non-formal learning in the game design process.

Very often, we tend to perceive non-formal learning through lenses of using non-formal learning methods. This is true to the most extent. In non-formal learning we use a variety of methods.

Yet, non-formal learning is more than just using methods. We carry out non-formal learning activities, projects, programmes that are long term experiences. Non-formal learning is also a lot about relations between individuals, the group and educators.
Watch videos below that explore the role of educators in non-formal learning settings. While watching, reflect on the following:
How much from videos do you recognise on your role as educator? What do you perform similarly? What is different?
In which areas do you think you want to develop more to be a non-formal educator?
What non-formal education examples and practices do you know and want to share? Use this Padlet board to post your examples.
