What is the significance of the maker movement for 21st-century skills development? What do maker culture and non-formal learning have in common? What is the added value of maker activities for established non-formal education practice? How does one get started?

You will visit the Makerspace PATS SAU established at the National M. Mazvydas library where visitors can create, discover, preserve, be curious, achieve, recognise, record.

In this maker space visitors will find over two dozen well-equipped individual workstations, 3D printer, vinyl and thermofilm cutter, thermal press, mini sublimation printer, robotics and electronics kits, programming microcomputers, computers with the necessary software and various materials to realise your ideas. If tired or waiting for your industrious workers, enjoy the relaxation and reading space.

The staff members of this maker space gave a tour around their place and shared their methodology with Cities of Learning partners in Vilnius (Lithuania), the Netherlands, Lagos (Nigeria), Eastern-Cape region in South Africa. The following video presentation was recorded during the Digital Youth Generation strategic partnership (read more here)

Get inspired and learn more about the maker culture, spaces and activities. The following video interview was recorded for the Digital Youth Work online course.

This activity is a part of a Cities of Learning study visit organised from 16 to 21 May 2022 in Vilnius, Lithuania. The study visit is realised within the Erasmus+ co-funded strategic partnership "Online 21st century skills education".
