What is the significance of the maker movement for 21st-century skills development? What do maker culture and non-formal learning have in common? What is the added value of maker activities for established non-formal education practice? How does one get started?
You will visit the Makerspace PATS SAU established at the National M. Mazvydas library where visitors can create, discover, preserve, be curious, achieve, recognise, record.
In this maker space visitors will find over two dozen well-equipped individual workstations, 3D printer, vinyl and thermofilm cutter, thermal press, mini sublimation printer, robotics and electronics kits, programming microcomputers, computers with the necessary software and various materials to realise your ideas. If tired or waiting for your industrious workers, enjoy the relaxation and reading space.
The staff members of this maker space gave a tour around their place and shared their methodology with Cities of Learning partners in Vilnius (Lithuania), the Netherlands, Lagos (Nigeria), Eastern-Cape region in South Africa.
