Atlas Integration & Civic Integration Antwerp assists newcomers in their search for school and work, and offers support to organisations in dealing with ethnic-cultural diversity and in pursuing a language policy for non-native speakers.
Atlas is developing a more 'learner-oriented' approach, which is innovative in this project. Already at the start of the integration process, the foreign-language newcomer will be able to work on both digital and language skills as integrated as possible from the role of job seeker.
With the project 'Bridges to work', Atlas plans to find 700 vulnerable residents over a period of 3 years, to bind them and to lead them to a trajectory to work. In this project, Atlas, Integration & Civic Integration Antwerp plays a supporting expert role in dealing with language and diversity, developing tools and methodologies, directing potential participants to partners, providing advice during case discussions and setting up a tailor-made offer.

During this visit you will be part of an introduction to what atlas is and how it works on integration and civic integration in Antwerp. And a specific explanation about what atlas does with regard to work and digitisation and the broader digital inclusion story in the organisation.

This visit is part of the study visit Good practices of validation and recognition of 21st century skills for adult education programmes. Participants of this visit can earn an open badge by participating in and reflecting on this visit.

This badge is a reflection tool for the visit at Atlas, Civic integration Antwerp. This visit is part of the study visit Good practices of validation and recognition of 21st century skills for adult education programmes.

The holder of the badge will have worked either on their own or in a small group to reflect on the questions:
  • how the visit has gone;
  • what has been learned;
  • how to use this in your work;
  • how else to use it (think about e.g. benefit for society).
The questions are designed to optimise generative learning: they are not just about what the participant has learnt but also how they can use the learning in their work and personal life.
This badge has been issued by a facilitator of the study visit.
