Participate in a training for youth workers focusing on skills for using a 'Digital Treasure Hunt' in non-formal learning

This training course is designed for youth workers (18+) who want to explore and develop creative, digital, and inclusive approaches in youth work through the methodology of treasure hunt games.

This course is part of the Erasmus+ long-term accreditation programme implemented by Fahrten Ferne Abenteuer Abenteuerzentrum Berlin in cooperation with Novotarium.



The training course objectives aim to develop youth workers' competences:


  • Introduce youth workers to the digital treasure hunt methodology and its educational value.

  • Equip participants with digital tools and design principles to enhance treasure hunt activities.

  • Boost problem-solving, creativity, collaboration, and critical thinking skills.

  • Promote digital inclusion and encourage active youth participation.

  • Co-create a practical booklet with treasure hunt ideas, methods, and tools.

The training will be based on experiential learning, collaborative work, daily reflection, and hands-on engagement with digital tools.


Characteristics of the training


The Digital Treasure Hunt program primarily connects to the ETS competence fields of Facilitating Learning, Managing Resources, Designing Programs, and Networking and Advocating, with additional overlaps in Communicating Meaningfully and Being Civically Engaged. This makes it a holistic program that supports youth workers’ development across multiple competence areas.

  • Aligned with the ETS Competence Model: The course content aligns with professional competences, particularly within the frameworks of non-formal learning in youth work.
  • Innovative Methods: Participants will explore tools and methodologies for adventurebased & digital Treasure Hunt tailored for the youth work context.
  • Digitally friendly approach: Digital platforms will be integrated for collecting ressources, competence assessment and certification.
  • Practical Skill Development: Participants will design, present, and receive feedback on programms for youth and/or youth work projects.
  • Intercultural Exchange: Activities will encourage participants to explore diverse perspectives while engaging in a multicultural environment.





Certified Training with Digital Recognition


This training activity is a unique opportunity for participants to use up-to-date and digital recognition solutions, such as digital Open Badges . Participants can earn digital badges, and receive certificates that prove their competence development.
Youthpass process and certificate will be offered to participants joining this training programme.

This badge certifies that the participant has successfully completed the international Erasmus+ training course "Digital Treasure Hunt – Creative and Inclusive Digital Tools in Youth Work", implemented by Fahrten Ferne Abenteuer Abenteuerzentrum Berlin in cooperation with Novotarium.

The course brought together youth workers, educators, and facilitators from across Europe to explore innovative, digital, and game-based methods for non-formal learning and youth engagement.


Learning Achievements and Competences Developed:


1. Understanding & Applying the Digital Treasure Hunt Methodology:
Participants gained a solid understanding of the educational value of treasure hunt games and how they can be used as a method for engaging young people in active, playful learning processes.

2. Digital Tools & Platforms:
Participants learned to use various digital tools and platforms (e.g. map-based applications, QR-code generators, interactive content tools) to create, facilitate, and evaluate digital treasure hunts tailored for different youth work contexts.

3. Creativity and Programme Design:
Participants co-designed educational treasure hunts, applying principles of creative programme design, gamification, and experiential learning. They created activity concepts that are adaptable, inclusive, and relevant to their target groups.

4. Competence-Based Youth Work Practice:
Through reflection and peer exchange, participants explored the ETS Competence Model for Youth Workers, especially focusing on:

  • Facilitating Learning in Groups
  • Designing Educational Programmes
  • Managing Resources
  • Communicating Meaningfully with Others
  • Being Civically Engaged

5. Digital Inclusion & Participation:
Participants developed strategies to foster inclusive digital learning spaces that encourage equal participation and promote media competence among young people.

6. Intercultural and Collaborative Learning:
In a diverse, international group, participants experienced collaborative learning and intercultural exchange, enhancing their ability to work in multicultural teams and to create learning environments that value diversity.

7. Self-Reflection and Recognition of Learning:
The training course included guided reflection and the use of digital recognition tools (such as Open Badges and Youthpass) to track and validate learning outcomes.
